10 Journal Prompts for Self-Reflection and Inner Peace

March 7, 2019

Journaling is like a warm cup of tea for the soul. There are no boundaries to what you can write and the deeper you go, the more you get. It is in the stillness of our thoughts that we can listen for messages of wisdom from our inner spirit.

If you are new to journaling, start small with one or two questions per day. Continue this way for a week. Reflect on your responses on the last day.

For more advanced writers, pick the most challenging question and journal about it for a week. Write with a clean slate each day, as if you had never seen the question before. At the end of the week, reflection on your writing. Think about the following:

Did you notice any patterns?

Did your answers change?

Did you get bored writing about the same thing each day?

Journal Prompts for Self-Reflection and Inner Peace

When you are ready, get your notebook, tablet, or computer and start writing away to the journal prompts below:

1. If you could snap your fingers and change anything about yourself or your life, what would it be and why?

2. If you could create the perfect day, what would you do and who (if anybody) would you include?

3. Pick a brave character from a book or movie. Think about how they would react to stressful situations in your life. Journal about what are some lessons you could learn from there actions.

4. If you could ask your future self one question, what would you ask and why?

5. Think back to years when you were the happiest, make a timeline of these events. Journal about what made these years the happiest and if you notice any patterns.

6. Who has been the most positive influential person in your life? What are the best lessons you have learned from this person?

7. What is something you have only dreamed of doing, but have never done?

8. Your life would be easier if you only had more what? (Note: Think inner qualities, not external).

9. What is something that makes you laugh every time you think about it?

10. When was the last time you did something nice for yourself, what did you do and how did it make you feel?

Final Thoughts

Your journal is like a treasure chest with amazing insight about your inner world. Carry a journal with you everywhere you go to jot down thoughts, ideas, frustrations, and inspiration.

Maribel Valls, MPH

Hey there, I'm Maribel Garcia Valls, and I'm all about vintage curation, room design, and graphic design. I've been obsessed with design ever since I was a kid, and I would always rearrange and style different spaces in my house. Thrift stores and garage sales are my jam, and I love discovering unique and eclectic pieces to add to my collection. When it comes to design, I'm all about pops of color and creating quirky and fun digital designs. I'm also a yoga and meditation teacher, and I use these tools as a way to express my creativity, along with journaling. While I have a Masters in Public Health and a Master's Certificate in Executive Coaching, my heart is always drawn to the more creative arts. For me, design is not just a hobby, it's a way of life. I believe that good design should be accessible to everyone, and I'm always on the lookout for inspiration in the world around me. Vintage curation, room design, writing, graphic design, and drawing are just a few of my passions, and I'm constantly exploring and expanding my skills with each new project. You can find my vintage booth at the Antique Gallery Round Rock: Booth C-22.
