How to Stay Motivated for Success?

December 6, 2012

Any dream or goal worth having takes time. The steps toward your goals may seem long and sometimes it may seem like “nothing is happening”. Most often, each step won’t have a big cash out or reward right away, but you have to take each step anyways.

When it feels like “nothing is happening”, use your imagination to stay motivated. Dream about what it will be like when you do lose the 50 pounds, get a new client or find an awesome new job. Delayed gratification helps you build patience and gratitude toward the thing you are working for. Being patient with the process is a lesson all on its own. It took discipline and motivation for you realize that you needed to change. You had to stop listening to the naysayers, get rid of limiting beliefs and find great people that you could model.

Change is not easy, but it is addicting. Once you discover that you can change one thing in your life, you start to wonder – what else can I change? You feel empowered. The thing is to keep on moving. People are great at starting, but many get lost in the steps because there is no instant gratification in achieving something worth having! Even though the process can be challenging, the lessons you will have learned about yourself are powerful and long-lasting.

Food for Thought to Keep You Motivated

Here is a good mantra to read when you feel like you have lost motivation:

I am learning as fast as I can. I dream about my goals every day, every minute, and every second. I dream of the day when my dreams have been accomplished. I dream about the steps it will take to get there. I have nightmares about not getting there or failing, this fuels my fire! I know that I learn from falling and getting back up and that makes me stronger.

I feel closer to my goals every day, even though some of the steps are boring and produce no instant rewards. I know that the end will come no matter what. I’d rather die trying than die with any regrets. There are many naysayers to discourage me from moving forward. I don’t let them get to me. I’d rather be happy with no friends, than miserable and popular.

I have come a long way and I celebrate every moment of growth. I thank God for the strength and the opportunity to live my life the way I want to live my life. The road has been rocky and scary at times. There were times where I just couldn’t take that step at that moment in time, because I was not ready. But I didn’t give up, I waited for the right time and then with brave courage, I jumped without looking and prayed for a safe landing.

The journey toward my dreams and wishes has required discipline and “me” getting out of my comfort zones. I am growing every second and adding more tools to my toolbox. I am a firestarter! I am fearless and confident! I am ready for the change! I can do it! I will do it! Just watch me!

Maribel Valls, MPH

Hey there, I'm Maribel Garcia Valls, and I'm all about vintage curation, room design, and graphic design. I've been obsessed with design ever since I was a kid, and I would always rearrange and style different spaces in my house. Thrift stores and garage sales are my jam, and I love discovering unique and eclectic pieces to add to my collection. When it comes to design, I'm all about pops of color and creating quirky and fun digital designs. I'm also a yoga and meditation teacher, and I use these tools as a way to express my creativity, along with journaling. While I have a Masters in Public Health and a Master's Certificate in Executive Coaching, my heart is always drawn to the more creative arts. For me, design is not just a hobby, it's a way of life. I believe that good design should be accessible to everyone, and I'm always on the lookout for inspiration in the world around me. Vintage curation, room design, writing, graphic design, and drawing are just a few of my passions, and I'm constantly exploring and expanding my skills with each new project. You can find my vintage booth at the Antique Gallery Round Rock: Booth C-22.
