One-of-a-Kind Vintage Finds: How to Create the Perfect Scavenger Hunt List
Hey there, vintage enthusiasts! Are you ready for a scavenger hunt that will make your next shopping trip even more exciting? Well, hold onto your vintage hats because I’ve got just the thing for you.
As a vintage curator, I’m always on the lookout for unique and rare items that will add character to my booth. But vintage shopping isn’t just for us curators. It’s a fun experience for everyone! So let’s dive into a vintage scavenger hunt that will make your next trip to the antique mall, thrift store, or market a little more interesting.
And here’s the best part: you don’t have to buy anything on this hunt! That’s right. You can just enjoy the thrill of the hunt and the joy of discovery. Or, if you want to splurge, go ahead and treat yourself to a vintage gem.
Now, I know some scavenger hunts can be a little boring and predictable, but not this one! You can create your own list and add whatever weird and wacky things you like. Want to find an old rotary phone or a vintage typewriter? Bring it on! How about an antique cheese grater or a vintage ashtray? The possibilities are endless!
And remember to bring your friends along for the ride. It’s always more fun to have someone to share the excitement with. Plus, they might find something for you that you would never have thought of.
So, grab a notebook and a pen, and let’s begin our vintage scavenger hunt! Here are some off-the-wall suggestions to start your vintage hunt list:
Find a vintage or antique item for under 5 dollars: This one should be easy peasy! Look for vintage postcards, old buttons, or vintage books priced to sell. Don’t underestimate the power of a small item. It can add a lot of character to your home decor.
Find an item over $1,000: Now, this one might take a little more digging, but the thrill of the hunt is what makes vintage shopping so fun! Look for mid-century modern furniture or rare collectibles that are priced higher. You never know what you might find!
Find something unique: This is where your creativity comes in. Look for quirky items that catch your eye, like a vintage typewriter or a retro telephone. You’ll be surprised by what you can find when you think outside the box.
Find something with a great patina: Vintage items with a patina have a unique charm you can’t find in new items. Look for items with rust, peeling paint, or chipped edges. These imperfections add character and tell a story of their own.
Find something from a specific period like the 70s or 80s: Whether you’re a child of the 70s or 80s, finding vintage items from your childhood can bring back many memories. Look for items like cassette tapes, vintage t-shirts, or old-school board games.
Find something with some personal memories: Vintage shopping is a great way to connect with your past. Look for items that trigger emotional memories, like old bingo cards or vintage postcards from your hometown.
Make a day or two-day experience out of it! Bring your friends or family members along for the ride, and have a blast exploring vintage shops, markets, or malls. Remember to take your time and enjoy the experience, and don’t be afraid to haggle a little if you find an item you love!
Once you’ve tracked down your sought-after treasure, snap a pic of your finds (if it’s cool with the store, of course). Or, if you’ve bought it already, take a victory photo when you get home and share it on social. Use the hashtag #vintagescavengerhunt to show off your swag and give a shoutout to the spot where you bought it. By tagging the store, you’re giving them free publicity, an easy way to support your local businesses. High five, you savvy scavenger, you!
So, go forth and hunt on, my friend! You never know what treasures you might find. Happy hunting!

Maribel Valls, MPH
Hey there, I'm Maribel Garcia Valls, and I'm all about vintage curation, room design, and graphic design. I've been obsessed with design ever since I was a kid, and I would always rearrange and style different spaces in my house. Thrift stores and garage sales are my jam, and I love discovering unique and eclectic pieces to add to my collection. When it comes to design, I'm all about pops of color and creating quirky and fun digital designs. I'm also a yoga and meditation teacher, and I use these tools as a way to express my creativity, along with journaling. While I have a Masters in Public Health and a Master's Certificate in Executive Coaching, my heart is always drawn to the more creative arts. For me, design is not just a hobby, it's a way of life. I believe that good design should be accessible to everyone, and I'm always on the lookout for inspiration in the world around me. Vintage curation, room design, writing, graphic design, and drawing are just a few of my passions, and I'm constantly exploring and expanding my skills with each new project. You can find my vintage booth at the Antique Gallery Round Rock: Booth C-22.
