A TREASURE TROVE OF AWESOMENESS
Hey there, fellow creatives! As a vintage curator, I am beyond grateful that I get to discover all sorts of cool stuff. In today’s blog, I’m sharing my experience doing just that. I recently had the pleasure of visiting a local Austin gem, the Austin Gift Company, and let me tell you, it’s a delightful rabbit hole of quirkiness and vintage charm.
With over 150 booths, this store truly embodies the “Keep Austin Weird” spirit. Although I couldn’t snap pics of every booth, I managed to capture a few shots of some genuinely groovy finds. So, buckle up as I give you a guided tour of this fabulous shopping destination!
Purr-fectly Stylish Canvas Bags
Walking through the store, I discovered some utterly fabulous canvas bags showcasing captivating animal prints, courtesy of Pet Studio Art or Spicy Kitten, a local vendor. My top pick? A Princess Leia cat print – indeed, the cat’s meow, if I do say so myself! The artist behind these beauties has a cool story about how she makes these prints. Be sure to give their website a visit for the full scoop!
Concrete Planters: Handcrafted Beauties
Creative maker and vendor Solid Objects makes these handmade concrete planters crafted right here in Austin, TX. Check out these cute pots with a variety of shapes and colors – perfect for adding character to any space. These adorable pots sprouted from the seeds of quarantine boredom – isn’t that just the most relatable origin story? For the full scoop, head over to their website and dig in!
The Nature-Inspired Wonders of Botanical Bones
I was captivated by the gems at Botanical Bones, a fantastic vendor offering macramé plant hangers, butterfly art pieces, and other decor. Their locally sourced nature-driven décor is an excellent find for those seeking a pop of botanical bliss in their spaces. You can follow them at @botanicalxbones.
An Eclectic Mix of Rocks, Goodies, and Decor
As my adventure unfolded, I stumbled upon a booth brimming with rocks, minerals, fossils, and mystery bags, crafting a mesmerizing medley to awaken the inner geologist in all of us. Be sure to follow them on Instagram @unearthedatx for a peek into their marvelous world!
Karmita’s Delightful Handpainted Pots
Then guess what I stumbled upon? These funky handpainted pots by Karmita! They have little arms and bodies and are too adorable to resist. The colors are bright and fun, giving off major retro 70s vibes with a playful and girly twist. You’ve gotta check ’em out! You can follow Kermita on Instagram @karmita.creative.
A Love Letter to Frida: Querido Rincon by Ocha Design
Another can’t-miss hotspot is Querido Rincon by Ocha Design. As a Frida Kahlo fan, this booth made my heart smile with its Latin flair. As a fellow graphic designer, I couldn’t help but tip my hat to their extraordinary work. To get a taste of their creative genius, swing by their website!
Shelved Treasures: Handmade Goodies, Decals, and Vintage Decor Galore
On the left side of the store, I found some eye-catching décor and glasses with decals – the perfect gift for anyone seeking a handmade, specialized present. Next, I discovered some fabulous vintage glass finds and décor, adding a touch of nostalgic charm to the booth.
Just around the corner, I stumbled upon a vintage booth, called Roam Flea, with a lovely blue wall, featuring a shelving unit filled with vintage clothes, decor, and accessories – absolutely oozing shabby chic charm!
The Unforgettable Longhorn Display
But before you head out of the store, make sure to take a peek at the incredible Longhorn display, which is for admiring from a distance – no touching, please! And don’t forget, there are so many more charming handmade goodies, magnets, and décor to explore, offering a captivating mix of items that cater to every shopper’s taste. It’s a delightful highlight in this whimsical shopping journey!

Hey there, I'm Maribel Garcia Valls, and I'm all about vintage curation, room design, and graphic design. I've been obsessed with design ever since I was a kid, and I would always rearrange and style different spaces in my house. Thrift stores and garage sales are my jam, and I love discovering unique and eclectic pieces to add to my collection. When it comes to design, I'm all about pops of color and creating quirky and fun digital designs. I'm also a yoga and meditation teacher, and I use these tools as a way to express my creativity, along with journaling. While I have a Masters in Public Health and a Master's Certificate in Executive Coaching, my heart is always drawn to the more creative arts. For me, design is not just a hobby, it's a way of life. I believe that good design should be accessible to everyone, and I'm always on the lookout for inspiration in the world around me. Vintage curation, room design, writing, graphic design, and drawing are just a few of my passions, and I'm constantly exploring and expanding my skills with each new project.
